When announced earlier this week, Niantic Labs promised that its new Pokemon Go update would implement various bug fixes. The new update is now live on the Apple App Store and it's exactly as advertised. The update fixes a major login issue that has plagued players for months.

The biggest bug fix involves logging in via a Pokemon Trainers Club account. Players have had trouble logging in with the accounts for months and the new update has code specifically designed to handle login errors. In fact, the code related to the Trainers Club "exception container" was the only real addition in Pokemon Go's GAME_MASTER file during a recent datamine of the new update.

There are also anecdotal reports that the new update has also fixed a bug in which the game crashes when swiping through a gym's defending Pokemon. Sadly, the new update does not fix an issue in which the game crashes when a player uses the Pokemon Go Plus peripheral device.

While this update is pretty underwhelming, it's likely that Pokemon Go released it in preparation for an even bigger update coming later this summer. Game developers obviously want Pokemon Go in tiptop shape for bigger updates planned for later this year.
