A new futuristic arcade game called Laser League where teams slay their opponents with colorful bursts of light and entertain crowds will be coming to Early Access this summer.

The above trailer highlights some of the gameplay elements of Laser League, but the game certainly moves quickly. On the game's Facebook page, it says "You won't have time to blink" when playing the game, and if the trailer is a solid indication that the statement is probably true.

If you find yourself a bit lost amid all of the neon flashes of light and some fast transitions between gameplay scenes, you're not alone. Luckily, the game's site sheds a bit of light on what exactly players can look forward to in the game.

Published by 505 Games and developed by Roll7, Laser League puts players in a futuristic arena as they compete to gain control of light-emitting devices that litter the layout. Once a team gains control of these tools, laser walls begin forming around the arena, and if an opposing team member touches a light wall, they die. It's simple enough, but with the confined quarters and multiple players being dropped in, it looks like it'll be quite the hectic experience that will rely on teamwork and shotcalling to do well in.

Classes and powerups also exist in the game to provide some unexpected twists and some strategy. Six character classes, 16 powerup options, and hundreds of ways to customize your characters allow for plenty of combinations to assist you in obliterating enemies with light and look good while doing it.

The game may remind players of Rocket League, especially when you see the post-game screen that shows a less top-down view of the teams that clearly shows the arena surrounded by onlookers in the audience. A futuristic sports vibe is definitely present here, but Laser League looks to cater to a bit more aggressive strategies than just plowing into another player's car.

If you want to grab an early look at Laser League, you can start by signing up for the game's Beta testing. Laser League will be coming to Steam in Early Access sometime this summer and looks to later be released on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
