We've known The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was coming to Nintendo Switch for some time, as it was one of the games showcased in the system's very first trailer. That said, Bethesda has been a bit evasive about what form Skyrim would take on the Switch. Well, Bethesda finally revealed a bit more about Skyrim for Switch at their Bethesdaland E3 2017 press conference, and the game is interesting, if nothing else.

First the bad news – Skyrim on Nintendo Switch isn't a visual masterpiece. The game's world looks fairly nice, but NPCs and enemies look fairly low-poly. The game's top-notch art direction still shines through, but there's a reason most of the trailer is shown zoomed-out on the Nintendo Switch screen.

Thankfully, Skyrim will take advantage of the Switch's unique capabilities in some interesting ways. Skyrim will allow you to scan in a The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Link Amiibo and play as Nintendo's hero in Bethesda's world. It sounds like you'll be able to use other Zelda Amiibo as well:

"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the Nintendo Switch includes outfits and gear from The Legend of Zelda, plus additional loot unlocked from compatible The Legend of Zelda Amiibo. Take down enemies with the Master Sword, protect yourself with the Hylian Shield or look heroic in the Champion's Tunic."

Skyrim for Switch will also take advantage of the Joy-Con controllers for motion-controlled archery and lock-picking. I know motion controls make some gamers unreasonably grumpy, but you have to give it to Bethesda for going the extra mile to make this a unique experience. And hey, I'm sure you can turn the motion controls off.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim hits Nintendo Switch later this year.
