Microsoft had a very full showcase during its pre-E3 press conference this afternoon, showing more detail on previously announced games, while providing some new debuts that left fans happy with delight. That said, it certainly didn't forget about Cuphead, Studio MDHR's 1930's style side-scrolling shooter, which had been in development for many years, but never got a release date. Well, until now, that is.

The team has confirmed that the game will finally come out on September 29th, and it's set to sell for $19.99. And to celebrate the occasion, there's a brand new trailer, showcasing some of the new action that hasn't been seen before, including some new flying stages and boss encounter that will require you to be on your toes.

Cuphead focuses on a couple of unfortunate characters who find themselves in the battle of a lifetime when they make a deal with the devil – and he ends up wanting to collect. This includes a series of boss battles, along with side-scrolling shooting stages, where you'll need to be on your toes in order to survive. As you can see from the trailer above, the odds certainly aren't stacked in your favor.

The trailer is done very stylishly, with a "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls!" kind of announcement, playing out like a trailer from the 30's era. We're then thrown right into the action, where Cuphead and his mug-like pal have to deal with a constant barrage of cars, a Medusa-like boss who shoots lasers out of her eyes, a weird balloon-like thing with big hands, and even more challenges that will no doubt lie ahead. The trailer is a bit on the brief side, but definitely paints a picture about being on the tough side. No matter – the fact that we'll finally get to play it is very, very good news to us.

Check out the trailer above, then head to the Xbox Live Marketplace to pre-order the game now. It'll arrive on September 29th, and while that's still a ways away, at least we finally have a definitive date to get our hands on the game. Whew.
