Nintendo just revealed a brand new story trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. We get a few blurry details about Elysium, but being Xenoblade, the details are still a little obscured. We do, however, get a very clear look at combat and our colorful cast of characters in the new trailer, which you can watch above.

"In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the latest entry in the acclaimed RPG series, a new hero will seek out Elysium on an immense journey through a new world. Explore an endless ocean of clouds, where the last remnants of civilization live on the backs of colossal beasts called Titans. Experience the story of Rex and his new friend, Pyra, a mysterious being known as a Blade who grants him tremendous power. Together, search for Pyra's long lost home Elysium, the ultimate paradise for all of humanity. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch, Holiday 2017."

This is a JRPG alright. Some corny voice acting, a convoluted story, enormous talking beasts, melodrama... It's all here in spades. This is what fans look forward to in a Xenoblade game, though. We want a huge world as rich in detail, lore, and drama as our favorite anime shows. One thing that's missing that fans of Xenoblade Chronicles X may have been looking forward are the exo suits which in Chronicles X were known as Skells. One of the main rewards for sticking with the game was the ability to hop into these enormous mechs and start jetting around this detailed world.

We haven't seen anything like that so far, but we have seen a number of huge dragon-like creatures. Maybe if all else fails, we'll get to ride ourselves some dragons, huh? We'll know soon enough. Despite rumors that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 would be delayed until next year, the trailer states that it will launch later this year. Stay tuned!
