It wasn't long ago that we reported that IO Interactive, the developers of the Hitman franchise, went independent from Square Enix and decided to keep the rights to said franchise. However, the team isn't waiting long to show what it's capable of with the series, and has managed to produce a new gameplay demo that will allow players to try out the game for free.

The company has revealed that the first episode for Hitman: The Complete First Season, is now available for play free of charge on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The video above highlights what you can look forward to in said demo.

"I'm proud to announce that our first hello as an independent studio is to invite all gamers to play the beginning of Hitman for free," noted CEO Hakan Abrak. "There is a lot of love out there for Hitman and with this offering, we hope that many more will fall in love with the game. We believe that this is Hitman at its best. So jump in and give it a try."

The first level contains a lot that players can try out, including a pair of story missions, along with two Escalation Contracts, 40 different challenges to choose from, 17 Achievements and Trophies to collect, and a variety of player-created missions available through the game's Contracts Mode.

And if you feel that the game is worth it – which we certainly do – you can purchase Hitman: The Complete First Season on Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at a very reasonable discount, available for 60 percent off. The sale is good for the next few days, so you've got time to invest yourself in Hitman's world, and then pick up the game and see what else it has to offer.

This is reportedly just the beginning of IO Interactive's future plans for the game, and hopefully that means a second season will be in the works soon enough. For now, the First Season will certainly give us something to enjoy on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Give the first episode a try and see if all this killing grows on you!
