FUZE is a company that specializes in teaching young people how to program. The name "FUZE" actually refers to a coding environment designed to run on Windows PCs and Raspberry Pi devices. It's taken off in a big way in the UK, and hundreds of teachers and students are using FUZE to learn how to code in an intuitive and organic way. Today, FUZE announced that it's bringing it's coding environment to the Nintendo Switch.

Here's the quick feature rundown explaining exactly what FUZE is trying to accomplish on the Switch:

  • Easy to learn text based programming language
  • No coding experience required
  • Create your own apps and fast 2D - 3D games
  • Access Joycon sensors and controls directly in your programs
  • Use the Dock to show your games on your TV to share with friends and family
  • Programmable synthesizer & Speech engine
  • Use the included game graphics & audio or create your own
  • Extra content packs will be available to download
  • Use a USB keyboard, the FUZE touch keyboard or the Joycons to enter your code
  • Comes with game graphics and audio and you can create your own
  • Learn to code

It sounds pretty ambitious to us. Apparently the goal is to empower and enable Nintendo Switch owners to program their very own Nintendo Switch games... On a Nintendo Switch. The program will give us access to the Joy-Con features, the Nintendo Switch dock, and a library of assets. That's pretty incredible, and you better believe that if this gets up and running, someone somewhere is going to use it to crack the Switch and run some homebrew.

Regardless, this sounds like a fantastic way to get coding in an easy-to-understand environment. For those of you wondering, yes you can hook up a USB keyboard to your Nintendo Switch, and it will be fully functional any time you're asked for input.

We'll keep an eye on this and keep you guys updated. If you'd like to sign up for updates yourself, feel free to check out the official website here.
