Batman And Superman Battle As Pokemon Trainers In Parody Cartoon

Have you ever wondered what it would look like if DC superheroes became Pokemon Trainers? A new cartoon parody takes on the challenge of merging the two universes in a gym battle between Batman and Superman, each with their own unique Pokemon.

The video, shown above, was uploaded by cartoon creators Cartoon Hooligans to their YouTube channel. After a couple of months of no videos being posted, this newest cartoon looks to capture both the Batman/Superman personalities and the spirit of Pokemon battles.

"Metropolis City Pokemon Gym, also known as the Fortress of Solitude," a description on the video begins. "Today, an exciting Pokemon battle is about to take place here. Our hero, Batman whose goal is to become the Pokemon Master is here to challenge the undefeated gym leader, Superman in a one versus one Pokemon battle."

Inside of the Metropolis City Pokemon Gym, the two send out one Pokemon each to fight, an opening that's complete with a Pokedex analysis to give some backstory to the team. Superman's got a lion-themed Pokemon fittingly called Supermane, and Batman has his own second-stage evolution Pokemon called Night Wingwing. Quick Attacks, Ice Beams, Thunder Punches and Close Combats fill the fight, but the sequence truly feels like a Pokemon experience when an emotional pep talk from Batman prompts his Night Wingwing to rally itself and evolve to its final evolution, Batman Man. An evolution that's punctuated with a suspenseful "Who's That Pokemon" intermission featuring Supermane and a fade-out ending talking about Batman and his Pokemon having a long way to go on their journey really pay respect to the traditions of the official animated series.

Aside from just being a brilliant idea, the animation in the fan creation is executed well, too, something that's definitely make-or-break when it comes to ideas like these. Cartoon Hooligans is no stranger to mashups either, as their most recent video before this one was a parody that combined Dragon Ball fighters and the Power Rangers. Seeing these two videos being their most recent creations, fans in the comments section were quick to ask for a Dragon Ball and Pokemon video featuring a battle between Goku and Vegeta.
