It's been a while since we've heard any good rumors about Doomfist being added into Overwatch – and played by Terry Crews, no less – but some data miners have dug up information that indicates we could be seeing him come into the game after all.

User crash reports from the PTR – or the Public Test Realm, where a lot of PC users test out new features before they go live within the game – have indicated a particular line reading "1.13.0.0 Doomfist/Summer Games." This indicates that not only could we see the addition of the mighty warrior to the cast of characters, but also the return of a fan favorite event where you can literally go for the gold.

It's been a little while since we've seen a character introduced for the game, though we did just recently get a Horizon Lunar map for it, which allows players to battle it out on the moon.

Since then, the title has disappeared, though it does indicate that the event and character could drop sometime in August, possibly even sooner, depending when Blizzard eventually gets the work done. Obviously, players in the PTR will be able to test it out first, so if they do become official, they're likely to know about it before Doomfist and the Summer Games go live in other versions of the game.

There is a possibility that Blizzard may just be trolling fans again, as it's been known to do in the past with Doomfist-related rumors. But then again, it could be building up to something for the game's next additions this summer. It's hard to tell at this point, but, for now, players should probably just take it with a grain of salt, until someone actually shows up.

The Summer Games sound likely, though, mainly because they were such a hit when they took place last year, enabling fans to unlock plenty of goodies while partaking in special activities. At the very least, it'd be great to see these make somewhat of a return, if only because we can start getting some good competition going.

Overwatch is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
