Housemarque’s Nex Machina Could Be Making Its Way To Arcades

Ever since its release last week, Housemarque's Nex Machina has wonderfully brought back the bliss of classic twin-stick shooters. That'd make sense, since the developer worked alongside arcade legend Eugene Jarvis (Robotron 2084, Smash TV) to put the game together. (You can check out our review here.)

But now the game could be making its way to another medium – arcades. Arcade Heroes recently reported that the game could very well be making its way to the arcade front, with a little help from the team at Raw Thrills.

The team noted that Housemarque hinted at such a project a year ago, under the name "The Jarvis Project" (before the game was called Nex Machina) and that they would be trying to conceptualize a possible arcade version. There was also a preliminary mock-up of an arcade cabinet, though it was clearly in the research phase.

But since that time, we've been seeing more hints that it could be an actuality. This recent Reddit with Eugene Jarvis indicated that there was, in fact, an arcade version coming. A Reddit user by the name of Dahrkael asked, "Will you release a dedicated cabinet version for use in arcades (maybe partner with raw thrills?)?" Eugene simply responded, "It's happening! You wanna buy?"

He then added, "The Arcade version will have to be made a bit more approachable for casual players. Not much but a bit. We'll have to tune the game for human interface factors relating to the use of large physical flight sticks as controllers.

"My youngest son, who is 6, is totally mesmerized by his iPad. He's defintely addicted to Minecraft and Roblox. Now if I can just get him to write code. The older ones have real jobs, except the musician."
