EVO has become a pretty big tournament over the last few years, between new games entering the fray, more competitors joining in for the older games, and more surprises. And you've been able to see a majority of that through Twitch, as the tournament is aired live all weekend long when it takes place.

But there's been a trend as of late where the finals for Street Fighter V have aired on ESPN2, as part of the network's push into esports territory. And it looks like that's going to continue on, as the channel has announced that it will once again air this year's finals, set for 10 PM EDT on Sunday night, July 16th. (You can still watch them on Twitch if you prefer, but there's something about seeing them on TV that's undeniably cool.)

"It's great to be back at the Evo Championship Series Final with Street Fighter V this year," said Kevin Lopes, director of ESPN programming and acquisitions. "This final will provide no shortage of compelling competition, and we look forward to delivering this event to fans."

"Fighting games bring a tremendous level of hype and excitement, and Evo's mission is to share that experience with fans worldwide," said Joey Cuellar, President of EVO. "We're pleased to team up with ESPN to bring this game to new audiences."

The past couple of years have brought some great coverage of the finals for the channel, drawing in a big audience of both esports fanatics and casual viewers that have been wanting to see the best Street Fighter V players in the world go at it. While ESPN2 still has yet to air other action that takes place during the tournament, this is still great news for the EVO team, not to mention Capcom – it's about to launch its Capcom Cup tournament for the year, and this exposure will certainly help its community quite a bit.

The EVO Tournament takes place from July 14th through the 16th, and you can watch all the action on Twitch in case you're a fan of particular games like Killer Instinct and Injustice 2. We know we'll be tuning in.
