Amid the news that was emerging about upcoming Disney projects during the big D23 Expo recently, players had plenty of questions about the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts III, a game that's felt like it's been forever away since it was announced. We don't have a firm release date on the game yet which is one of the most-asked questions, but we do have some more information about whether or not Sephiroth, one of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts' most iconic characters, will make an appearance.

The news of Sephiroth's possible inclusion in the game comes from an interview that The Mirror conducted with Kingdom Hearts III director Tetsuya Nomura where the game creator was asked several questions via a translator about new content that's expected to be in the game. One of these was related to Sephiroth or other secret bosses, and after they went back in forth for a bit while joking about how difficult Sephiroth was to fight in the past, he answered that they're still not quite sure whether or not the boss will be added.

In terms of the secret boss, we can't say anything at this time, but in terms of Sephiroth specifically, my development team are worried that we've had him come back so many times so they're maybe worried it might be redundant at this point," Nomura answered. "We're still deliberating on it."

When it comes to other secret bosses, Nomura remained tight-lipped on the subject, but it looks like players can definitely expect some sort of surprise in the game.

"I can't say for certain [if there will be more secret bosses]. I hope, hint hint hint," he said.

Nomura also addressed the possibility of creating a CGI movie that would encompass the Kingdom Hearts series, but he said that's not really a project that's on the horizon.

"Nothing has been thought about in terms of a cinematic piece, only because it's difficult to put into a narrative that has become as complex as Kingdom Hearts," he said. "Of course, we do have a 15 year history so it has come up in discussions about doing some sort of cinematic piece, especially from Disney."

Kingdom Hearts III is scheduled to be released in 2018.
