Sunday was an unofficial holiday for many Pokemon Go players as people rushed to take their first crack at Legendary Pokemon. All around the world, players are reporting meeting up with dozens of other players whenever a Legendary Raid popped up in their city.

Although the crowds weren't quite as intense as they were last summer, when hundreds of people spent their July afternoon and evenings in the park, the social aspect of Pokemon Go had returned to the game....at least for one day.

One of the big surprises was how easy it was for players to get into a Legendary Raid. Although Pokemon Go developers indicated that players would require an invite and an exclusive Legendary Raid Passes, Lugia and Articuno were free for players to battle, at least for this weekend.

Pokemon Go was even able to use the Legendary Pokemon successfully at one of their live events. Over 1,000 people reportedly participated in a Lugia raid at Pokemon Go's live event in Chester, UK with only some minor network issues that cleared up as more and players.

It's almost funny how successful the Legendary Raids were for Pokemon Go considering how disastrous the events leading up to the release were. Pokemon Go Fest was an outright disaster for Pokemon Go and led to Niantic refunding everyone's tickets.

We'll have to see how long this temporary high lasts for Pokemon Go fans. We know that the crowds won't last for Pokemon Go fans, but if the game releases Moltres and Zapdos soon, it might get a nice push for the rest of the summer.
