God of War is shaping up to be quite the revival of the action/adventure series, taking a bold new direction where he, alongside his son, sets out to defeat his opponents, this time in the age of Vikings. But if we play our cards right, we could see several adventures that tie in with his comeback.

Speaking with the Daily Star, creative director Cory Barlog noted that the series could very well be mapped out across "multiple games."

"For me, I am just trying to get this game done," he noted, when asked if this game was simply just a one-off. "But I will say that when I chose this story, I had chosen it because I already outlined and mapped out stories for multiple games. I have an arc in my head that goes well beyond this game and everything that we are doing in God of War, to me, is very much building towards that.

"Like you see the second God of War game and it ends with Kratos going up to Olympus. Everybody said that it was the stupidest decision like why are you doing this, nobody wants a cliffhanger ending.

"But I was like, whatever, this is awesome. This is telling people more to come, this is great. And with this game, I think people know that we're going to be here for a while. Me, personally, I know I've got a couple more of these in me."

That said, Sony hasn't greenlit any sequels just yet, as the new God of War game has yet to come out. That said, it's definitely shaping up to be a big hit for Sony on the PlayStation 4, and prior games in the series have sold well, so it wouldn't be a shock if they did greenlight forthcoming games. We'll just have to see what's panned down the road, following the release of the new game next year.

For now, we can't wait to dive into the new adventure, because it's looking quite promising, even if is different from the traditional God of War. But we're fine with that.
