Mafia III Gets Trippy New Sign Of The Times Expansion Trailer

The story of Mafia III continues to roll on this week, as a new expansion for the third-person action/adventure game has rolled out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

A new trailer for the expansion, Sign of the Times, has been revealed, and it shows an incredibly trippy expansion to the game, where Lincoln Gray finds himself going head-to-head against a dangerous cultist group.

The group is known as The Ensanglante (try saying that five times fast), and the members are taken control of by a hallucinogenic drug – the effects of which you kind of get a hint at in the trailer, with the leader threatening Gray as he undergoes said effects.

Sign of the Times features hours of new gameplay to get into, as well as the ability to use new weapons within the game, including a throwing knife that can make quite an impact, even on the most heavily armed of enemies.

There's also a new feature that will allow you to slow down time, possibly from the hallucinogenics of the drug. This enables you to get a better focus on your enemies, Max Payne style, and save your own skin in the process.

This expansion definitely looks to be the moodiest – and probably darkest – yet for the Mafia franchise, and one that provides a bit of a supernatural twist for the game. It's definitely something that fans should check out, if there weren't already intrigued by what the original Mafia III had to offer when the adventure released last October.

It may not be as polished as, say, Grand Theft Auto V, but Mafia III is atmospheric and exciting enough to give a look, and the way the development team captured the theme of the 60's is unbelievable, especially when it comes to the game's soundtrack. It's that good. And best of all, you can find the core game for pretty cheap these days, as some retailers are selling it as low as $19.99 – that's certainly worth it.
