League Of Legends' Yasuo May Have More Power Shifted To Windwall Soon

Yasuo is already one of the most frustrating League of Legends champions for many players to deal with, a frustration that results in him being mostly permabanned thanks to the new 10-ban system. While the tools at the swordsman's disposal allow him to perform well into both ranged and melee matchups, Yasuo has high snowball potential across many matchups, but some changes for the champion that are being considered would push his strengths more towards fighting ranged champions in the mid lane where he's often seen.

In order to make this transition, two of Yasuo's abilities will be looked at for changes: His passive, Way of the Wander, and his W, Wind Wall. While both of these abilities provide Yas with some solid protection to keep his offensive momentum going, the two combined offer him plenty of survivability in most situations. The changes being proposed would reduce the strength of his shield but would allow the champ to throw out Wind Walls more frequently.

"Exploring weaker shield and more frequent windwalls early game," Riot Meddler said on the potential changes. "Goal there is to test shifting defensive power so he's similar or slightly stronger against ranged match ups and weaker against melee, making it clearer how to deal with him if he gets picked/give him situations where he's a better choice without just being a better generalist."

Those aren't the only changes that are being considered for Yasuo at this time, but they're the only ones that have been revealed. Meddler noted that they are still hoping to do "larger work" on Yasuo within time, and these tweaks are just a preview of some of the ideas that they're exploring. Their intention isn't to push Yasuo directly into either the mid lane or the top lane, but Meddler did comment that these Wind Wall changes might cause him to gravitate towards mid anyway.

From the notes about Yasuo being found under the balance changes discussion for Patch 7.16, it looks like we might be seeing some variation of these changes should they make it through the PBE testing stage with more changes to follow at a later date.
