Injustice 2 Gameplay With Mortal Kombat X-Rays Is Terrifying

NetherRealm Studios is traditionally best known for the Mortal Kombat series, but lately, Injustice 2 is stealing all of the limelight. While the world of Injustice can often-times be incredibly brutal -- Superman is a crazed killing machine -- the game itself is definitely on the softer side when compared to Mortal Kombat. It's missing all of the gore-splattering, bone-crunching, head-splitting savagery that makes the Moral Kombat games so memorable. Until now. Someone has taken a handful of X-ray scenes from Mortal Kombat X and seamlessly spliced them into Injustice 2 gameplay. The result is pretty shocking. You can watch the video above and see for yourself.

It's pretty incredible how well the footage goes together, especially using Sub-Zero as the guinea pig. It works because Sub-Zero has a comparable character model in Mortal Kombat X, and some of the x-ray animations look like they're pulled straight from the Injustice 2 gameplay. Brainiac's attack, for example, works perfectly with what I assume is the Xenomorph's stabbing attack from Mortal Kombat X.

After seeing Robin and Bane's x-ray sequences, you'll be asking yourself if these were actually crafted and animated with the x-rays in mind! The way these attacks flow together is truly astounding, and no doubt a huge part of this magic we owe to YouTuber "Timmy The Turtle," who edited this whole piece together. In the comments section he explains that he had to add in those dramatic zooms in and out in order to get the footage to flow properly, or else it would have been abundantly obvious that we were looking at two different games. Although if you look closely, you can clearly see that the attacker costumes are different, and the Mortal Kombat X stages can be made vaguely out in the background.

What do you think? Injustice 2 definitely comes off as a more sinister and violent affair once these x-ray animations are thrown in, but the combos are exactly the same. Seeing Robin run his sword through a foe and seeing Bane slam someone's head down onto the pavement at breakneck speed (pun intended) would have the exact same effect, the game just doesn't show it in detail! Now you know what's happening behind the scenes.
