Naughty Dog isn't a company that's afraid of experimentation. It got its start with Crash Bandicoot before eventually moving on to the Jak and Daxter series, before taking a much more serious turn with the Uncharted games and The Last of Us.

Now, on the verge of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy coming out and The Last of Us Part II ramping up development, the company is trying to figure out what to do next. And that could mean experimenting with different genres.

The company's done it before – we saw what it could do with racing games like Crash Team Racing (CTR) and Jak X, and it did very well for itself. But what about others?

Speaking with DailyStar, game director Shawn Escayg noted that the team doesn't really have too much in mind past The Last of Us Part II, but you never know. "Yes, it's pretty exciting..We don't know what the future holds, but you're right, it could be something new. It could be another Uncharted, who knows. Naughty Dog is not afraid of exploring more stuff.

"The entire studio is like that, everyone wants to try something new. There are so many new ideas, it's the culture at Naughty Dog, we love ideas. The studio right now is just teeming with new content and new ideas building up new worlds, new genres. it's a constant melting pot of new ideas."

Of course, it'll be a while before The Last of Us Part II is finished, as it's still early in development, so the team still has plenty of time to plot a course for its next move. But whatever it is, we'll be quite pleased with it, as the company's track record has been quite impeccable when it comes to quality games. Hell, these guys should've taken a vacation after Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. We'll see what they plot to do over the next few years, once The Last of Us Part II gets a release date.

For now, you can see the company's next work in action when Uncharted: The Lost Legacy releases on PlayStation 4 starting August 22nd.
