A lot of companies will be taking up residence in Germany for the forthcoming Gamescom event – but there will be one notable exception.

Sony has confirmed that it won't be taking part in the gaming event, and will instead be hosting its own from a completely different location – Paris!

The company has confirmed it will be hosting a conference during Paris Games Week, which is set to take place on October 30th starting at 8 AM PDT. The event is expected to be live broadcast as well, so you can see what kind of announcements the publisher is up to.

The company hasn't revealed what's on its slate just yet, but it's expected to focus on its upcoming games for the holiday season, as well as its 2018 games, including Insomniac Games' Spider-Man and God of War. There's also a good chance we may get another glimpse at Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts III, though third party involvement hasn't been confirmed just yet.

Sony probably won't reveal too much, though. Keep in mind that the company's annual PlayStation Experience event is taking place just a couple of months later, December 9th and 10th, in Anaheim, and it's there that it usually makes most of its premiere announcements. Last year's show brought a number of announcements, including Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, The Last of Us Part II and Knack II, among countless others.

Whatever Sony has planned, it'll still involve a lot of good stuff. For that matter, we could also see more of the new expansion for Horizon: Zero Dawn, as well as other content coming to its first-party line-up, as well as possible third-party reveals (again, awaiting confirmation).

We'll see what the company has planned in the months ahead!
