Blizzard has done an amazing job with its content for Overwatch, adding a variety of modes, characters, special events and other things to keep players coming back for more. Next week, it'll be doing it again, as it has planned a live reveal during the forthcoming Gamescom event.

The company has confirmed that it plans to reveal a new map and a new animated short, with the map preview set to go live on August 21st, followed by the short reveal on August 23rd.

The new map shouldn't be a surprise, as director Jeff Kaplan has been hinting at it for some time now, promising the most photo-realistic map that the game has seen to date. No word yet on its location, but it could very well be based around Widowmaker, and her possible home location.

After that, we'll likely get a ballpark idea as to when the map will be added in the game, though we're bound to see it pop up in the PTR first, since that's the way the system usually works.

The company has also noted that it has plans for World of Warcraft and Hearthstone as well, with new patches set for each game, and the promise of new Fireside Gathering features for Hearthstone players, as well as access to a new group raid in Warcraft. Heroes the Storm players can also look forward to a new hero coming to the game, set for reveal next week.

Overwatch is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
