A crafty Overwatch player has taken it upon themselves to create a custom-made game mode for the Blizzard game that puts players in the middle of some intense zombie action.

While it's not an official game mode, of course, the zombified version of Overwatch still looks like it'd be tons of fun, especially since it builds off of some pretty well-established zombie game conventions.

Previewed in the trailer above posted by the YouTube account known as Deltin, the rules for the game mode seem pretty simple. Following a die-and-switch-sides format, the "zombies" are actually sped-up versions of Reinhardt grow in number with every defender that's defeated.

And when it comes to defending, you only have one choice, but it's a pretty solid one: Torbjorn. The hero's job in this Infection game mode is to post up in a safe spot while strategically placing his turrets in a way that can both block Reinhardt from getting to him and hopefully kill him if he's able to get past them. The numbers might start out pretty even depending on how the custom game's teams are organized, but once Torbjorns begin to fall, the turret-building will quickly become outnumbered as the last man standing.

The two heroes are the only playable options currently available in the custom game mode, but with how many other options there are to choose from, it makes sense that others could find their way into the zombie mayhem later on.

Zombie-themed games are in no way new, and even if a game doesn't focus entirely on zombies, it's still not uncommon for a game or franchise to have some type of zombie game mode added in as well. Sometimes, it works out tremendously well, much like it has for Call of Duty in the past. Other games, like the upcoming Metal Gear Survive, haven't been received quite as well, but they're still coming regardless.

The zombie mode for Overwatch is currently only available for PC players, but if you're interested, you can join in yourself by following the link at the end of the video to add your name to a list of participants and read up on more detailed rules.
