n an announcement released on Saturday, BioWare confirmed that the no further support would be given to the single-player component of Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Throughout recent months, it's been rumored more than once that Mass Effect: Andromeda had ceased support for the game by cutting off future updates or DLC opportunities. The claims were refuted by BioWare, but whether those rumors were 100 percent true at the time or not, it appears that they did hold some weight now that single-player support has officially been canned.

With an omnious title that simply read "Update from the Studio," the announcement from BioWare begins by listing positive updates recently made to the game that include improved animation and customization options, but it slowly turns into what Mass Effect: Andromeda fans feared: A definite statement that the time of updates is over.

Below is an excerpt from the main part of the announcement that breaks the bad news:

Early in development, we decided to focus Mass Effect: Andromeda's story on the Pathfinder, the exploration of the Andromeda galaxy, and the conflict with the Archon. The game was designed to further expand on the Pathfinder's journey through this new galaxy with story-based APEX multiplayer missions and we will continue to tell stories in the Andromeda Galaxy through our upcoming comics and novels, including the fate of the quarian ark.

Our last update, 1.10, was the final update for Mass Effect: Andromeda. There are no planned future patches for single-player or in-game story content.

But with single-player updates no longer a possibility, BioWare reassured Mass Effect players that they weren't abandoning multiplayer. More updates and content is on the way for that side of the game with additional announcements to come soon.

"In the coming weeks, our multiplayer team will provide details of their ongoing support and upcoming content, including new multiplayer missions, character kits, and what's in store for N7 Day," the announcement continued.

A continuation of updated content for Mass Effect: Andromeda has been questionable in the past after players' responses to the newest installment in the series, so the news likely isn't completely unexpected to those who have been following the game.
