Some changes for League of Legends' Yasuo that were being tested on the PBE have recently been reverted and delayed until sometime after Patch 7.18.

In recent gameplay discussions, plans have been talked about to make Yasuo more of a threat against traditional mages in the mid lane while reducing his early-game passive power. His shield on his passive combined with his Wind Wall ability allowed him to take on both ranged and melee matchups with pretty reliable defenses in either situation, but the changes hoped to hone in on his strengths against ranged opponents.

More frequent Wind Walls was one option that was being considered, but that change wasn't seen on the PBE. Instead, the changes below included magic resist buffs, Way of the Wanderer Shield changes, and a buff to his ultimate's range.

  • Magic Resist increased from 30 to 32.1
  • MR per Level increased from .50 to 1.25
  • Way of the Wanderer (Passive) shield changed from 100-510 to 60-555
  • Last Breath (R) range increased from 1200 to 1400.

These changes have since been reverted, and Riot Meddler said that the intention is to hold off on these changes and perhaps others until sometime after Patch 7.18 at least.

"We've got some good lessons from the Yasuo changes we've been trying, won't be shipping anything for a while however," Riot Meddler explained recently. "Extra range on his ult showed some good promise in particular, since it allowed him to better capitalize on his allies' play without giving him more personal power. Will likely revisit that next time we look at Yasuo. Shifting power from his shield to other defensive effects (e.g. base stats) also showed both some promise and some risks."

While the shield would be stronger late-game, the early-game power that was taken away would give better windows of opportunity to trade with Yasuo without having to worry as much about his passive shield. The magic resist changes and potential Wind Wall tweaks in the future may push him more towards the mid lane, and while it's been said that's not the intention here, it's certainly a possibility.

The ult range seems like it'll be kept for a later patch considering Meddler's comments, but as far as other changes go, what will be preserved or added remains to be seen.
