While we wait – patiently – for Telltale’s The Walking Dead to come to its conclusion next year, Microsoft has announced that you can relive three of the series’ best games on Xbox One, as they’ve been recently added via backward compatibility.
Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb confirmed on Twitter this morning that The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead Season Two and The Walking Dead: Michonne are now all playable on the console, from their original Xbox 360 releases. In case you don’t own them yet, both the physical versions of the game and the digital counterparts can be found for cheap, so you should have no trouble adding them to your library.
The original The Walking Dead helped Telltale move into its modern era of episodic gaming, which has included everything from Game of Thrones to Back To the Future to more current franchises like Batman and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as other cult favorites like Tales From the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us, which will be getting a second season next year, making several fans happy in the process.
The first two seasons of The Walking Dead are shockingly good ones, as we become introduced to a young girl named Clementine, who has to make some rash decisions as she attempts to survive an onslaught of the undead as they roam the countryside. Her character continues her arc in the recent Walking Dead games (namely A New Frontier), and we’ll no doubt see where she ends up when the final chapter arrives sometime in 2018.
Meanwhile, Michonne is a terrific spin-off from the television series, featuring everyone’s favorite zombie killer as she deals with her own little story arc, making a few of her own rough decisions while fighting for survival. It ended a bit too abruptly for its own good without additional seasons, but is a must for anyone that’s a fan of the character.
The games can be purchased for pretty cheap on the Xbox Live Marketplace, so if you don’t have them yet, feel free to add them to your collection now. It’s hard to pass up excellent Telltale titles.
