Wasted Land is the latest comic from the hit Blizzard FPS title Overwatch and is the perfect addition to the series for Junkrat mains. The newest backstory narrative focuses on Roadhog, also known as Mako Rutledge. Wasted Land shows the very moment that Roadhog decides to join up with Junkrat and thus creating a beautiful, some might say explosive, friendship.

"The Hog," AKA Mako, is apparently not someone to be trifled with as the very first page of the comic suggests. When disturbed, the tank came busting out with eyes glaring red and guns blazing. Not to mention the fact that his famous grappling hook makes an appearance, just like in the game.

"We fought a war to protect our home, we got the apocalypse," says one panel and now Roadhog's main phrase makes even more sense when paired with this desolate, and almost wild-west-meets-Borderlands, backstory. Another familiar aspect between good 'ol Mako and his in-game counterpart is that throughout the entire sequence seen in the comic, he actually says very little.

For those familiar with a lot of Overwatch's backstories, "the war" took what it meant to be Mako Rutledge from the character thus branding him simply as Roadhog. What's interesting is that despite knowing that tidbit, the residents that he is familiar with in town still refer to him as Mako, versus the beginning sequence sees him as just "the Hog". This potentially provides another insight into his character simply based off of how his peers see him and recall him with a sense of familiarity.

After a few bar fights and some acquired loot, the tag team duo's friendship was born. The specific brawl seen towards the end of the comic led into the events that the latest escort map 'Junkertown' is about in Overwatch. The bar itself and the surrounding area can all be explored in the latest map, which is now playable in the game's Public Test Realm (PTR).

Previous comics in the series that proves heroes never die include more thorough looks into Widowmaker, McCree, Tracer, Torbjörn, Doomfist, and many more. Those can all be seen right here, in addition to Wasted Land, for free.

Overwatch is now available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and through Blizzard.net.
