Pokemon Go
is finally moving forward with its Safari Zone events in Europe, and tickets are going fast. Earlier today, Pokemon Go ran out of spots for its upcoming Safari Zone event in Paris, France in just under two minutes. Tickets for the event were free, but it still required advanced registration to limit overcrowding concerns.

Each Safari Zone will offer players an opportunity to catch Pokemon that don't usually appear in Europe. Kangaskhan, Chansey, Larvitar, and Unown will spawn during the event, and players will also have an increased chance of finding Shiny Magikarp and Shiny Pikachu during each Safari Zone event. Players will also get special Trainers' Kits for attending, as well as an opportunity for discounts at various stores.

Admittedly, each Safari Zone event will only be able to host a few thousand people, as each event will be held at a different shopping center in Europe. However, pushing a few thousand tickets in less than two minutes is still an impressive feat, especially when considering the frequent claims that the game is "dead."

While Pokemon Go planned to run Safari Zones throughout the summer, Niantic rescheduled several dates after the Pokemon Go Fest debacle. In order to help with network traffic during the event, Pokemon Go announced that no Raid Battles will take place during the event.

Pokemon Go also announced four additional Safari Zone events, which will take place in Denmark, Czech Republic, Sweden and The Netherlands. The exact locations are:

  • Fisketorvet—Copenhagen, Denmark (October 7)
  • Centrum Černý Most—Prague, The Czech Republic (October 7)
  • Mall of Scandinavia—Stockholm, Sweden (October 14)
  • Stadshart Amstelveen—Amstelveen, The Netherlands (October 14)

The Safari Zones begin in less than two weeks, so we'll find out if any more surprises are in store. Players who live near a Unibail-Rodamco shopping center should keep an eye out on their mall's Facebook page for updates as to when tickets for an event become available.
