With God of War set to arrive on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro in 2018, Sony is pouring a lot of hype into it, as it tells the not-so-humble story of Kratos as he continues on his journey for redemption, but this time with his young son – and a beard, to match.

So it would make sense that the developers, especially director Cory Barlog, returning to the franchise after handling God of War 2 years ago for PS2, would want to talk about the game's progress. And what's the best way to do that? With a podcast, of course.

The team has announced the debut of a new podcast called God of War: The Lost Pages, and it will cover the progress of the game in many areas, including visuals, music and so forth. Only the first episode has been released thus far, but it's a real doozy, as it digs into the game's development, as well as itsvarious systems, like runes and magic, as well as Atreus.

The episode features creative director Cory Barlog alongside story lead Matt Sophos, as they talk about these systems, as well as the unique language within the game, and more information on Atreus, Kratos' son. We also get some new details about the in-game setting as well, so you'll get an outpouring of details regarding the ground that Kratos will cover within the game as he bashes enemies to pieces. (Well, tries to – we've seen clips where he gets flung around like a Frisbee.)

The podcast is likely to continue over the next few months as development in the series moves along, although an exact number of episodes hasn't been given just yet. Hey, we'll take what we can get, especially when it comes to getting insight into what is likely to be one of 2018's most anticipated games. (And that's saying a lot, considering we're also pretty damn excited about Insomniac Games' Spider-Man as well.)

You can listen to the debut podcast above and prepare for more episodes in the future, which will continue to dive into the lore of Kratos.

God of War will release in 2018 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
