South Park: The Fractured But Whole Will be Uncensored Worldwide

South Park fans will be thrilled to hear that the upcoming RPG South Park: The Fractured But Whole won't be censored like the first game was.

For those that are less familiar with the animated series but have at least caught an episode or two, it should be pretty obvious why the next South Park game would face some censorship troubles. With bodily functions and race references permeating the game – and that's just what's been teased so far – there's plenty there to censor, but when the game's released, everyone will be able to experience it in its full, no-punches-pulled glory.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Kimberly Weigend, the game's associate producer, confirmed that there were to be no censorship issues after the Ubisoft team recently received the final word on their game's ratings.

"We just got our ratings back: there are no content issues across all countries," Weigend told the Daily Star. "Everyone around the world will play the exact same content. It was such a bummer that certain people couldn't play certain parts, but this time it seems to be more progressive and the ratings board must've been like 'this isn't so bad, let's just go with it.'"

While some areas might not have experienced censorship issues for the raunchy South Park game, censorship could have occurred in certain countries with stricter guidelines for games. Some European versions of The Stick of Truth did end up being censored in some areas to permit sales of the game that the PEGI ratings board said went beyond what they could allow. Specifically, scenes that involved some alien probing as well as a trip to an abortion clinic were removed. With different versions of the game missing certain content depending on region and platform, it's refreshing to see that The Fractured But Whole won't face similar issues.

Months ago, Ubisoft discussed the possibility of censoring the game and said that they couldn't make any promises about whether certain content would be cut before release or not. With the game being regarded as "more progressive" by Weigend, it'll be interesting to see how it tackles other controversial topics in a way that apparently didn't warrant censorship.
