At the latest Nintendo Direct, fans of both the Big N and Bethesda were exciting to find out that two huge franchises would be making their way over to Nintendo. In addition to Skyrim, both DOOM and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus were promptly on the way. This move did cause more than a little curiousity as to how this port would work.

According to a statement from Bethesda to USGamer, the port was completely redone from the ground up:

"DOOM on Switch is custom-built for the hardware and while graphics won't be 1:1 with other platforms, the game will deliver the amazing DOOM look and feel that fans are excited to get on Switch."

Another way the title will differ from its other platform brethren is that it will also be released sans SnapMap level editor, as well as the multiplayer and campaigns will be downloaded separately. By purchasing the physical version of the game, only the single-player mode will be available once the title loads up. For the multiplayer, an additional download will be available. Don't worry, though - it's free.

Though it seems that recent games making their port over to the Nintendo Switch are being altered as far as what level of content is available, it is a great step in the direction for the company with the ever-growing list of the promised third party support. Who doesn't want to fight hordes of demons on the go?

DOOM is currently available for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One consoles. The Nintendo Switch version has yet to receive a concrete released ate, but it is slated to drop this year.
