While Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference didn't have too many new reveals on hand, there is one project that was unveiled that promises to be pretty cool – especially if you're a fan of the Front Mission games.

During the showcase, Square Enix revealed Left Alive, a game that looks to focus on some kind of mech action, with a teaser trailer that left us with more questions than answers. That said, the game is set to arrive next year on PlayStation 4 and Steam, and looks to be some kind of spiritual successor to the company's previously released Front Mission games.

Though details are few, we do know a few cool things about the game. First off, it will feature art design by Japanese artist Yoji Shinkawa. In case you're not familiar with the name, he previously worked with Hideo Kojima on the Metal Gear and Zone of the Enders franchises. You can see a sample of his work taken from the game below.

On top of that, the game's official website reveals that Left Alive is a "survival action shooter", and has a number of talents to its credit, including director Toshifumi Nabeshima (who worked with From Software on the Armored Core series), as well as Takayuka Yanase (of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots fame) and Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto.

As for the game's Front Mission connection, if you take a look at the announcement trailer above, you can see a framed picture of Huffman Island, a location from the series.)

More details are expected next month, and the game could also get a huge reveal during PlayStation Experience later this year, since Square Enix and Sony are cozy with their partnership and all. For the time being, though, the trailer above is definitely worth a look, and promises all sorts of crazy mech action to come sometime next year. The real question is what kind of Front Mission strategies will carry over. We can't wait to find out – and, more importantly, just how much stuff we'll get to trash. (Because of the mech suit and all…)
