Pokemon Go has extended its Equinox Event to make up for an extended outage yesterday.

The game announced that the currently running Equinox Event will run until October 3rd, as many players were unable to play yesterday due to log in issues. "Early this morning, we discovered an issue which prevented several players from logging into the game," Pokemon Go posted on Facebook. "After working with our partners, we were able to resolve the issue and can now confirm that login functionality has fully stabilized."

It's unclear what caused the log in issue, but it took down Pokemon Go for most of the day. While players with Google log ins were able to re-enter the game within a few hourse, Pokemon Trainers Club accounts couldn't get into the game until yesterday evening.

"As a result of this outage, the equinox celebration will be extended by 24-hours and will now end at 1:00 P.M. PDT on October 3. We greatly appreciate your patience and hope to see you out and about earning Stardust and hatching Eggs."

The ongoing Equinox event gives players a chance to earn double Stardust for every Pokemon they catch or hatch. Players can also hatch special 2 KM eggs that have rare Pokemon inside like Larvitar and Mareep. Pokemon Go is also using the new event to introduce a new type of Incubator that hatches Pokemon three times as fast as normal Pokemon.

This isn't the first time that Pokemon Go has extended an event due to an outage. Over the summer, Pokemon Go extended global bonuses for Pokemon Go Fest as a response to severe issues experienced at that live event.

In addition to extended event times, players will also be able to catch a new Legendary Pokemon this weekend. Entei, Suicune, and Raikou will migrate to different continents on October 1st, giving more players a chance to catch them.
