With the SNES Classic now available (aaaand they're gone), and many re-enjoying nostalgic favourites of the past, the previously unreleased Star Fox 2 is now out for players to enjoy. This highly sought after hidden gem was instant talk amongst veteran gamers so it shouldn't be surprising that pirated versions of the game have already been listed for sale on websites like Ebay. That didn't take long.

By ripping the ROM and then transferring it over onto original SNES carts, the elusive Star Fox 2 is now for sale, albeit morally shady, via online resellers. Because it's a knock off, don't expect it to be a high ticket collector's item. Using standard carts and no original marketing material, the purchase would be solely available to play; not like that's a bad thing. Just a friendly warning to fellow collectors.

The unauthenticated pirate version is averaging at a standard $60 price tag, though that does vary depending on the individual seller. It'll be interesting to see how Nintendo responds, they are infamous for being very protective of their intellectual property and have not been shy about swinging that ban hammer around. Stick around, we'll be reporting the inevitable takedown notices too.

As far as the game itself, Star Fox 2 continues on with the battle against Emperor Andross and is exciting for long-time Star Fox fans with its additions of new ships and two additional team members. The original title was cancelled due to bad timing, since the Nintendo 64 release was right around the corner. The game finally saw the light of day with the recent release of the SNES Classic Mini.

The SNES Classic Mini is available now (ish), alongside the anticipated Star Fox 2. For those that scooped one of the latest re-imagined systems up, enjoy saving the Lylat system once more!
