Stardew Valley will finally hit the Nintendo Switch eShop this Thursday, October 5! This, according to a tweet from publisher Chucklefish:

We've been waiting months for this moment, and now we just have to get through a few more days before we can get our hands on the generation's most celebrated indie game. The Switch version will be priced at $14.99, and can already be wish-listed on the Nintendo Switch eShop! Developer Eric Barone published an update on the official Stardew Valley website (link here) to celebrate the announcement:

"I'm very happy to see Stardew come to a Nintendo console," he said. "I grew up on Nintendo, after all! This will not only be the first time Stardew Valley appears on a Nintendo platform, but also the first time Stardew will be on a portable system.

"I would like to give a big shout out to Sickhead Games, who worked very hard to develop this port. They did a great job, as always, and deserve all the credit! I'd also like to thank my publisher Chucklefish for coordinating everything.

"I look forward to hearing about your experience with Stardew Valley 'on the go' this Thursday!"

It should be noted that, originally, it was teased that a multiplayer component would launch with the Nintendo Switch version of Stardew Valley, but the multiplayer mode has been postponed to 2018. A multiplayer beta will take place at the end of the year for Steam players, and the patch will roll out to PC players early 2018. Console versions will get the multiplayer patch after that, beginning with the Switch. We were warned that the amount of work required to make Stardew Valley a multiplayer experience is intimidating, so we'll have to be patient.
