Well it only took them a year and a half, but Capcom is finally releasing a feature-complete version of Street Fighter V. Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition was just announced, and it will be dropping on PlayStation 4 and PC on January 16 for $39.99. Check out the reveal trailer above.

This version of Street Fighter V will contain everything that we expected at launch. A full single-player story, a freaking arcade mode, a fleshed out roster, and a (hopefully) stable network for fighting your friends online. For those of you who, like me, have been supporting Street Fighter V since launch, Capcom promises that all of the extra content will be ours for free as soon as Arcade Edition launches in January.

Here are all of the additions and features listed for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition:

  • Arcade Mode
  • Extra Battle Mode

  • New V-trigger moves

  • Gallery

  • New User Interface

  • Season 1 DLC characters

  • Season 2 DLC characters

I should point out right away that current Street Fighter V owners will not be receiving the two DLC character packs for free along with their Arcade Edition brethren. Instead, Capcom reminds us that we can use our earned Fight Money or purchased in-game currency to buy these characters on our own. Thanks guys...

More on arcade mode from Capcom's official press release: "In the upcoming Arcade Mode, players can reminisce in the Street Fighter series history as they celebrate the last 30 years of the multi-million selling franchise. Choose from six different paths and compete in matches against CPU opponents to reveal unique endings based on player performance. In Extra Battle Mode, a new series of time exclusive challenges will be available for players to use their Fight Money for the chance to receive an exclusive premium outfit each month. Complete all four challenges each month and receive a special premium costume exclusive to this mode."

The cross-platform matchmaking will stay the same, and players of the original game and of the Arcade Edition will be placed in the same pools. We'll have more details as they're released.
