PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds continues to march its way into gaming history. The Battle Royale-style multiplayer game has been a massive hit since its Early Access launch on Steam back in March, and it's likely to continue that success with its Xbox One launch later this year.

But, for now, the game is still making all sorts of records. Along with our recent report that it's nearing two million concurrent players (a Steam record, by the way), the team at SteamSpy has reported that the game has managed to sell over 15 million copies since its release. And keep in mind that every purchase is still attaining to an Early Access release, not the full release. That's bonkers.

It just goes to show that players are ready to indulge in a fresh multiplayer experience that challenges them at every turn, since the game is built around the rule of "one and done" when it comes to surviving against 99 other combatants on a map, using whatever weapon they can get their hands on. It's appealed to many fans since its release, prompting Microsoft to step in and negotiate an exclusive (for now) version for Xbox One – even funding its creation in the process.

Not to mention the fact that the game is immensely streamable. Battlegrounds has become one of the most popular games on the Twitch service over the past few months, with thousands of fans tuning in to see who would in fact be the winner of the much-acclaimed "chicken dinner," so to speak. And the customization options have been pretty wild as well, with a number of items available within the shop to make potential combatants look like a million dollars.

This looks really good for the team at Bluehole, as Battlegrounds could be one of the holiday season's biggest hits across both PC and Xbox One – despite growing competition from Epic Games and Fortnite, which is doing very well on its own accord.

Though a release date hasn't been given yet, the full Battlegrounds experience is expected later this year for both Xbox One and PC. We'll keep you informed once the team provides us with release dates.
