The team introduced the new mode to the game last month, and it’s been an even bigger draw than anyone expected, with its 100-player multiplayer set-up and players competing to be the top dog in the game.
So, just how popular is it? Well, according to the company, the game hit some record numbers of its own this past Sunday. During that time, the game managed to reach an impressive audience of 3.7 million players. And at its peak, out of all those that jumped in, 525,000 players were concurrent at one point.
While that’s hardly the two million concurrent players that Battlegrounds has recently drawn, that’s still something very cool, especially for a game that’s still building an audience in early access.
This is a huge feat, just like the one million players that jumped into the game on launch day, as well as the 500,000 people that bought one of the game’s paid tiers just days after the early access launch.
The news bodes well for whenever the final game is ready to go, though a date hasn’t been given just yet. And it shows that there’s room for both Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds to thrive, despite certain animosity from Bluehole over the competition.
