Friday the 13th: The Game is Adding Another New Counselor Soon

Friday the 13th the Game Fox

The latest patch for Friday the 13th: The Game is now live just before Jason’s big day this Friday, but an even bigger reveal followed the patch notes to confirm that Fox would soon be added as another Counselor.

For those who are less versed in their Friday the 13th history, Fox was a character from Friday the 13th Part III, a member of the three-person biker gang that found their way to Crystal Lake and into Jason’s deadly hands. Fox wasn’t a Counselor like the other members of the Friday the 13th: The Game are, but her memorable character in the movies makes her a perfect addition to the game.

Back in July, it was reported that Friday the 13th: The Game’s developers were already making plans to add Fox to the game, but there were a few steps to the process. While other Counselors are based off slasher movie stereotypes and still bear very close resemblance to Friday the 13th characters, Gun Media wanted to add Fox herself as a playable Counselor. To do so, they had to track down the members of Gloria Charles’ estate, the deceased actress who played Fox in Part III. They wanted to get the okay from the proper sources who were close to Charles and pay tribute to her iconic character, and with the announcement, it looks as though they’ve accomplished their goal.

The news that Fox would be added was officially announced via the game’s Twitter account, but some players who downloaded Wednesday’s patch were tipped off what appeared to be a patch notes error.

Those who started to download the patch and saw the summarized notes available via their consoles saw that Part IV Jason and his map were being added, but the new Counselor, Mitch, wasn’t mentioned. Instead, the notes mistakenly said that Fox had been added, something that didn’t take long for players to notice.

Fox’s release date hasn’t been revealed yet, but Part IV Jason, the Jarvis Residence map, weather effects, and Mitch have all been added in Wednesday’s patch along with plenty of other balance tweaks, the full patch notes seen here.
