Friday the 13th The Game Car

The vehicles are one of the primary areas of concern that'll be addressed in the next patch for Friday the 13th: The Game, methods of escape that are often rendered useless thanks to bugs.

In an update posted to the game's website where the developers discuss their intentions with the next patch, they acknowledged the messy state that the vehicles are currently in. Thankfully, they've got some solutions planned for the escape options that should make them much smoother and easier to use.

"The vehicles are a mess," the post began. "It's a physics driven object that players are able to freely drive around the map and in some cases interactions with other objects cause disastrous issues."

To resolve vehicle issues, the team is upgrading their engine that should fix plenty of physics issues, likely those that involve the car flipping over and other scenarios.

"To fix this we are moving our engine up to a newer version that includes a number of fixes to the physics systems and then from there we are going to hammer away at whatever remains," the post continued. "What we didn't want to do is fix the issues once and then have to fix them again as we implemented the new version of the engine so there has been a delay in getting everything wrapped up."

As can be expected, upgrading to a new engine isn't exactly a click-and-done task. The developers said that it'll take some time, but it'll be worth it in the end.

"Integrating a new version of the engine is not insignificant," they said. "It requires us to isolate the game, see whats broken, and fix it all. It is then merged into our main development branch for everyone to start working from. Right now we are a few weeks away from being able to start working with the new version, from there we will have someone dedicated to fixing vehicle issues until the car and boat are in a better state."

For now, Friday the 13th: The Game players have a new Counselor and Part IV Jason to play with thanks to the latest patch, but the vehicle fixes will certainly be a welcome addition as well when their time comes.
