Overwatch has pushed pass an impressive milestone recently by boasting over 35 million players around the world.

The hit team-based game from Blizzard has been in the news an unfathomable amount of times since it was released, so much so that it seems as though it's been out much longer than its May 2016 release date. Overwatch has been steadily chugging along by adding more content end even more players since it was released, however, and the game has now found itself with quite the player count.

The news of Overwatch's impressive breakthrough was enthusiastically shared through a gif featuring Junkrat, everyone's favorite explosive lunatic in the game. It cites the lofty number of players that the game can now claim and thanks everyone for their participation.

Judging from the replies to the tweet, Overwatch fans seem intent on keeping the upwards trend going as well, almost as much as Blizzard. The game's account went through and replied to several of the top tweets directed at their player count announcement as well, a response that makes it easy to believe why players would stick around for both the game and the continued communication regarding content and balance changes.

Throughout the months since its release, Overwatch has thrived by adding additional heroes, maps, game mode, and seasonal content to keep things fresh and exciting. With Orisa and Doomfist being two of the latest heroes to join the lineup, Overwatch is now holding another event based around Halloween that offers even more worthwhile incentives. Through the spooky event, players can get tons of new skins like this incredible Cthulhu skin for Zenyatta as well as more highlight intros and emotes. There are over 140 items to collect, so players will be busy throughout the entire event trying to make the most of it.

With events such as these and ongoing content updates, Overwatch doesn't show any signs of slowing down just yet. Depending on how well their esports initiatives pan out, the game might soon be seen in many more exciting ways than simply with a controller in hand.
