A new update is coming for LawBreakers that will include a ranked mode that's often been requested in addition to new maps and other changes.

Considering the competitive, team-based nature of LawBreakers, adding a ranked mode to the Boss Key Productions game seems like a natural and deserved inclusion. The ranked mode is currently going to be regarded as the beta version and not officially season one, and for now, you'll have to be at least level five before you're allowed to take part. That could change once the game mode leaves the beta phase though and moves on to later seasons.

The ranked mode includes a few other guidelines that should seem pretty familiar to gamers who have no problem diving into the ranked matches of other games. With different queues to play in and several tiers to push climb through, the most important details of the ranked mode are found below:

  • Solo and duo queuing available
  • Six total tiers - Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and the top tier, Boss
  • Tier upgrade - Based on accumulated league scores earned at the end of each match
  • Ten placement matches are required to receive a ranking in Boss League.

In addition to the addition of the ranked matches that will be known as Boss Leagues, two new maps are also on the way. Called Gateway and Redfalls Blood Moon, the maps are a brand new addition and a map variation, respectively.

  • New Map: Gateway
    • A Blitzball arena map
    • The world's first "mobile stadium," which floats effortlessly in the sky thanks to Hadronium's anti-gravitational properties.
  • New Map: Redfalls Blood Moon
    • Variation of Redfalls map
    • Redesigned with a new, atmospheric time of day featuring the ominous Shattered Blood Moon overhead

The All-Star Update is scheduled to roll out for both the PC and the PlayStation 4 versions on Oct. 19, but with the ranked matches opening just then and everybody swarming in to test their skills, it might be a better idea to give it some time before you risk messing up your placement matches. The full patch notes can be read here for the PC and PS4 versions.
