Boss Key Studios' LawBreakers saw a release late this past summer, in an attempt to garner an audience that was looking for something more "hardcore" out of its multiplayer shooters. But the game didn't quite pan out that way, and now it's blind luck just to see the PC version of LawBreakers get more than a handful of concurrent players at a time.

Speaking with GameSpot, game director Cliff Bleszinski talked about the idea of possibly bringing the multiplayer title to new platforms in an effort to branch out to a new audience. And that includes both the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, apparently. Yep, Nintendo's system.

"We would probably consider the Xbox first, and then we've very much in wait and see mode right now," he noted. "It is a fine console, the Switch…the entire concept of it is just brilliant. Nintendo just really knocked it out of the park with this one."

As for how the game would be ported onto the Switch successfully, the team would have to look into various solutions. But, hey, if it can work for Doom and Skyrim from Bethesda, it can work for Boss Key, right?

"I sit back and think about what kind of experience (we would have for LawBreakers on Switch)," noted Bleszinski. "If we were to do the Switch, would it be like a rocket arena, 1v1 with nearby people or something like that? I don't know. But if we were to do it, we'd want to switch the game up in a fun and interesting way, that would make itself work with the portability aspect of the console."

The game has been receiving some good reviews, but that hasn't been quite enough to boost its player count. The idea of making it free to play for all platforms (with in-game purchases) could help it out in the long run, compared to the dire straits it's running into now. We'll just have to see what Bleszinski and his team plan next. But, yeah, we'd take a Switch version if it was good enough.

LawBreakers is available now for PlayStation 4 and PC.
