The power of the Xbox One X is something that Xbox fans have been looking forward to leading up to the console's launch on Nov. 7, and the producer of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus has high hopes for the console and the future of gaming.

In an interview that was included in the most recent issue of Official Xbox Magazine UK (WCCFtech), Jerk Gustafsson, the executive producer who worked on Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, discussed the console's strengths and related them back to the newest Wolfenstein game.

"It's a super powerful machine and Wolfenstein II runs really, really well – it looks fantastic on the Xbox One X," Gustafsson said. "The focus has been to make sure we can present the game in the best possible way and use the console and the power that the new console provides. And of course, everything from lighting and graphics overall – in terms of visual quality it's a lot closer to the high-end PCs than the regular consoles."

And Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus certainly has taken advantage of the Xbox One X's hardware. The game received Xbox One X enhancements not long after both the game and the console were released, and compared to the base version of the game which was already easy on the eyes, the enhanced version looks and runs better than before thanks to the Xbox One X.

But outside of Wolfenstein, Gustafsson was asked about the impact that the Xbox One X would have on the industry as a whole and whether it would be able to change the course of gaming and the development of new games.

"Yeah – I hope so at least. If you have the possibility to develop and deliver games that run in 4K resolution and look that fantastic, of course you want to take that opportunity," Gustafsson added. "It will set a new standard for games moving forward."

With the enhancements that have been seen on the Xbox One X so far, most players will likely agree that it'll hopefully set a new standard for games moving forward as more games and consoles look to keep up with the 4K, high-performance trends.
