League of Legends Is Changing Zyra, Morgana to Work Better Outside of Support

Two of League of Legends' support mages, Zyra and Morgana, are receiving more than a few changes that should help them perform outside of the support role.

Riot Meddler mentioned that the two champions would hopefully be receiving their changes as part of Patch. 7.24, but Riot's being careful to allow their support role to be preserved. The goal isn't to remove them from that position, but rather to make them more viable in another role that'll likely be the mid lane. Because of this, the balance changes are being approached with both roles in mind with their supportive ability being micropatched in December if the need arises.

Below are the all of the balance changes currently being tested on the PBE for Morgana and Zyra, changes courtesy of Surrender@20 and Riot Repertoir.

Morgana

• Base Stats
  • Mana regen per 5 seconds increased from 8.5 to 11.5
  • Mana regen growth lowered from 0.8 to 0.4
• Soul Siphon (Passive)
  • [Removed] No longer gives 10/15/20% spell vamp
  • [New Effect] When Morgana's spells damage champions, large minions, or large monsters, she heals for 15/20/25/30/35/40% (at levels 1/4/7/10/13/16) of the damage dealt.
• Tormented Soil (W)
  • [New Effect] When Soul Siphon is triggered, Tormented Soil's cooldown is reduced by 5%.

Zyra

• Base Stats
  • Mana regen per 5 seconds increased from 8.5 to 11.5
  • Mana regen growth lowered from 0.8 to 0.4
• Garden of Thorns (Passive)
  • Plant spawn range lowered from 1300 to 900
  • Plant duration increased from [5-7.5 based on level] to 8
  • Passive seed duration lowered from 45 to 30
    • [Note: this does not change W seed duration]
  • Plant durability changes
    • Plant health increased from 4 to 8
    • Ranged champion basic attack damage to plants increased from 2 to 4
    • Melee champion basic attack damage to plants increased from 2 to 8
    • Single target spell damage to plants increased from 4 to 8
    • Spell AOE damage to plants increased from 2 to 4
    • Periodic damage to plants lowered from 2 to 1
    • Large minion/monster damage to plants increased from 1 to 2
      • [Note: minions/monster damage to plants unchanged]
    • Plant gold granted on kill lowered from 5 to 3
  • Rampant Growth (W)
    • [Removed] Zyra's plants no longer gain 10/20/30/40/50% extra max Health
    • [New Effect] Each time Zyra kills an enemy, Rampant Growth's recharge time is reduced by 20% (100% for champion takedowns, large minion kills, and large monster kills).
  • Grasping Roots (E)damage increased from 60/95/130/165/200 to 60/105/150/195/240
  • Stranglethorns (R)
    • [New Effect] Garden of Thorns now resets plant duration and they gain 50% health.
