We Won’t Be Getting Anymore Xbox One Backward Compatible Games Until 2018

The Xbox One backward compatibility program has been a busy one this year. Even though there are still a number of titles that could be added to the program, this year has seen fundamental progress, between 136 Xbox 360 games and 13 original Xbox games joining the program, along with the various Halo titles – something fans have been wanting.

Well, we hope you like what you've got, because we won't be getting any more backward compatible titles for the year. Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb made it clear on Twitter that the team was taking some time off before jumping in fresh for 2018.

"After releasing 136 Xbox 360, 13 Original Xbox and seven enhanced Xbox 360 titles in 2017, the Xbox One Backward Compatibility team is taking some time off for the holidays," said Hyrb. "Releases resume after New Year. Thank you for all of your support this year!"

As for what could be coming our way in 2018, your guess is as good as ours, but there are a number of titles that could make their way to the system. And the team has already hinted that another round of original Xbox games will be compatible in spring 2018, with hopefully Jet Set Radio Future and Panzer Dragoon Orta on the list. We'll see what we'll see, though.
