Ubisoft Clarifies Their Stance On Steep's Expansion Following Russia's Olympic Ban

04-44

Earlier this week, the International Olympic Committee publicly barred Russian from the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics due to recent current events. This ban prevents both competitors and working officials from wearing the Russian flag during the South Korean games. With Ubisoft's expansion for Steep centered around the Winter event, it's understandably an uncomfortable situation to be in. As of right now, however, there are no plans to remove Russia from the game.

Since the Road to the Olympics expansion dropped the same day the statement was released, it was already past the point where they could take it out. The only option, then, would be to hotfix it with a patch to take out certain content. When asked if that option was in the cards, Ubisoft told Game Informer, "There are no existing plans to patch Russia out of Steep Road to the Olympics."
