Japan's annual Wonder Festival, which celebrates all things collectible in every possible way, is a great event to keep an eye on if you love any kind of figurine or statue style coming from the Eastern shores. There's plenty to admire on the show floor this year, but one of the most exiting new reveals (thus far, at least) is a new Splatoon Inkling girl Figma from the creators at GOODSMILE.

It is worth nothing that GOODSMILE, upon revealing the figurine to the world on social media, called this particular model a prototype. While there might not be major changes made to the statue before release, it's something to keep in mind for anyone who might start nit-picking the design out of habit. Here's the official word from GOODSMILE:

The news comes hot on the heels of other recent news that Splatoon 2's Pearl and Marina will be getting their very own Amiibos. While this particular figurine is not compatible with any Nintendo Switch games, it is a really cool take on one of the player character defaults from the Splatoon franchise.

At the moment, there's no set price or release date on the figurine, so don't get too upset if you end up needing to wait for this one. But, for anyone who wants to set aside the money now, most FIGMAs retail for anywhere between $30 to $80, depending on the number of parts, popularity, and retail mark-up involved.

For anyone who has somehow avoided Splatoon hype over the past half-decade, the game -- including Splatoon 2, which is currently available for the Nintendo Switch -- pits players against each other in various battles where they have to splatter each other with ink and conquer the other team by completing objectives in battle. Splatoon 2 released back in July of last year, and has made several record sales ever since thanks to the franchise's popularity among wide audience demographics.

Splatoon 2 is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
