9 Monkeys of Shaolin Brings Old-School Brawling Action To Consoles, PC This Fall

Remember the old-school days of beat-em-ups like Captain Commando and Final Fight? Sure, you do. Nothing was better than dropping in a few quarters and beating up groups of thugs like no one's business.

And a company that lovingly remembers these days is Sobaka Studio. The team has announced, in conjunction with publisher Buka Entertainment, that it will be producing a new retro-based brawling game called 9 Monkeys of Shaolin, set to release on consoles and PC later this year.

The game is "an intense top-down, close-quarters action game where you will punch and hack your way through enemies using basics of ancient martial arts only mastered by legendary Shaolin monks," according to the press release.

As a mere Chinese fisherman Wei Cheng you have to avenge the death of your friends and family slaughtered in a pirate raid at your peaceful village. Game protagonist is quite a tough nut to crack as he knows the basics of ancient martial arts only mastered by legendary Shaolin monks. Get your trusty battle staff ready for a challenging adventure in Medieval China and for merciless fights with hordes of various enemies.
