When we last saw Wolverine in 1973 (X-Men: Days of Future Past), his waterlogged body was dredged up from the Potomac River by William Stryker, who was actually Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) in disguise. Now, ten years later, in X-Men: Apocalypse, we'll get to see the Weapon X version of Wolverine (for more info). Say goodbye to bone claws and hello to retractable and virtually indestructible adamantium claws (seen in last trailer).

"We talked about a lot of different versions," producer Simon Kinberg told HeyUGuys. "There was a version where he got introduced in the middle of the movie and became this sort of drill sergeant for the kids, but that felt like it stepped on Raven's role of becoming the leader to the kids. There were two or three different incarnations that we tried, but none of them felt quite right. As we were constructing the movie, we always imagined that they were abducted and taken [to Alkali Lake] and that Weapon X would be there and you'd see something that you've never really seen in these movies before which is the full on, out of control, animalistic, stripped down Wolverine."

You can check out both Kinberg and director Bryan Singers interviews in the videos below.

Director Bryan Singer returns with X-Men: Apocalypse. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.

X-Men: Apocalypse will be released on May 27, 2016.
