Happy birthday, Alexandra! The actress is celebrating her 25th birthday today!

Born on July 16th 1991, Alexandra was raised by her parents in Phoenix, Arizona alongside her brother James. However, soon after she hit her teens, the young actress moved to Los Angeles at just 17 years old to pursue her acting career.

While younger fans may remember the actress from her brief stint in Nickelodeon's House of Anubis, Alexandra gained great attention when she was cast as Dani Raymond in VH1's Drumline: A New Beat. From then on, she went to star as the late singer Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B before she was cast in the acclaimed film Staight Outta Compton. Most recently, however, Alexandra has reached international stardom following her portrayal of Storm/Ororo Monroe in X-Men: Apocalypse. And, later this year, the actress will be featured in Dude alongside actresses Kathryn Prescott and Lucy Hale.

Alexandra, who's relatively new to Hollywood, wowed audiences with her strong portrayal of Storm in Fox's latest X-Men film. Currently, the actress has been nominated for Breakout Star at this year's Teen Choice Awards. Having gotten her first role in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, it's clear that Alexandra has come a long way in her career. Having always been interested in drama, Alexandra spoke with Vanity Fair about her passion by saying, "Growing up in a family of athletes, they were like, 'Alex, choose a sport.' I tried every single one and it was all bad. I wanted to act. I loved everything about the theater."

As for her next projects, there is no word yet on what Alexandra might be looking into, but she has spoken about her love of music. "I love to sing. I would love to be part of a film adaptation of Broadway's Hamilton. I was blown away by how it broke down so many barriers," she said of the theatrical-turned-cultural phenomenon.

Happy birthday, Alexandra! Hopefully, you'll having plenty of people singing to you today!
