Who knew Spider-Man had such good rhythm?

Many might remember the hilariously uncomfortable scene in Spider-Man 3 where Tobey Maguire showed out Peter Parker's funky fresh moves, and now it looks like Tom Holland has taken over his predecessor's mantle. The actor hasn't been afraid to bust a move or two in his career, and Tom's dancing fever has prompted the director of Spider-Man: Homecoming to throw down the (infinity) gauntlet.

Taking to Instagram, Jon Watts posted a short video alongside the message, "Yeah but @therussobrothers can Thanos do THIS?" The quip is a direct nod to the Russo Brothers and their recent behind-the-scenes photo of Josh Brolin rehearsing to play Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Not one to be shown up, the director taped a clip of Tom breaking out some impressive breakdancing skills.

Yeah but @therussobrothers can Thanos do THIS?

A video posted by Jon Watts (@jnwtts) on

The video begins with an animated clip of Spider-Man dancing in uniform until Jon pans the camera upwards. It's then that fans can see Tom on the floor break dancing as some electronic beats courtesy of Daft Punk.

Honestly, do you think Thanos could pop and lock like Queen's resident vigilante?

Of course, this isn't the first time Tom has made headlines for his dance skills. Not even a month ago, the actor was seen in a video uploaded to Instagram on part of Deja Carter. The clip showed Tom dancing alongside Zendaya and Deja as they took on the "Type Challenge" which began on Youtube earlier this year. The cute video featured Tom doing an adorable shuffle alongside the two women.

And, what's more, this new video from Jon isn't the first behind-the-scenes peek that's come from Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film's cast has uploaded several teasers images from set while still managing to keep the project's secrets under wrap - or, rather, under web.

Now that you've watched the director's groovy clip, let us know in the comments below whether you think Spider-Man's moves could take on Thanos, the Mad Titan? What other superhero dance-offs would you guys like to see?

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to swing into theaters on July 7 2017.
